Niko Henrichon - Artist to know

http://www.nikohenrichon.com/

If you haven't read "The Pride of Baghdad" and seen this work then you are missing out on some amazing art.
The story by Brian K. Vaughan(Runaways, Y The Last Man) is great. The fictionalization of the story of lions that escaped from
the Baghdad zoo during the invasion for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Privacy of Thought

New shirt design. The last image fell apart under close scrutiny of the core concept and the execution of said concept to relate to one another. This involves more of something I believe.

It's hard work if you can get it

This is the first frame of my first animation. It's crap and the worst part is that even crap takes a long time to do. With illustration, at least you realize half or a quarter of a way through an image that this isn't turning out like i wanted and you can turn around or keep going. This is all or nothing because you don't know until you finish. I'll never criticize a bad animated film ever again except on storyline. I'm talking about Madagascar, Hoodwinked bad!!!

Simplicity is key

Back to basics seems to be a running theme this week. The star design was scrapped in favor of the simpler original idea. The rounded star is the least important element. The star within the atom.

T-shirt designs

For a shirt design, this is a sketch dealing with silencing protest. It evokes the image of the three wise monkeys. It's quick color study with art sticks.

Art and Prostitution

I felt like a whore this week. In class, we were divided into teams based on artwork we had and other students picked us as their illustrator. Even though this certainly wasn't the real world, I certainly felt sort of cheap like a two-dollar streetwalker. The image of people walking around the room reminded me of how people drive down streets looking at the women until they pick the one they want. Oh well, I guess I better put out.

This is the star design for an assignment in my Illustration design. I'm worried it's a little too simple and may end up adding more blacks.
